White paper, version 0.5

Transparency by Default for the Internet and AI

ITCoP, the Internet + AI Transparency Code of Practice: the transparency stack, co-regulated identification, and the AI Transparency Profile. A draft for external review, by Mark Lizar and Michele Drgon.

About the paper

The paper sets out one code of practice for online services and AI systems. A controller identifies itself before it identifies anyone, versions its notice, gives the person a receipt and keeps an event log. For AI systems, the AI Transparency Profile adds notice for each scope of work, an undermark on published material, and the authority behind an agent. It is a draft for review, and comments are invited.

This page follows the practice the paper describes. You see the notice first, you are given a receipt number bound to the version of the notice you saw, and the paper you download carries an undermark you can check.
